Once A Rangers Staying
I think OO would have been better of the Once A Rangers took over for the Overdrive team the rest of the season. It would have saved what was a pretty mediocre season.

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
Disney wouldn't have been willing to pay for that
|
Re: Once A Rangers Staying
It also kind of would have been wierd from a story perspective. And really they would have had no reason to do it since OO wouldn't have aired yet.
I can see where the idea of them staying ( or the whlle season being about them) would be interesting. |
Re: Once A Rangers Staying
This would have been a great idea! As they were much more likeable than the OO Rangers.

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
Perhaps Adam could have been the mentlr from the beginning?

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
The Overdrive Team being sent away would have came off as odd.

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
Its ridiculous that they didn't do the whole season with the returning Rangers. I would have had Disney clean house and hire new writers.

1. Retro team remaining with their powers - wouldn't be happening since all battles and stock shots would have to be re-shot including cockpit scenes 2. Retro team replacing the Overdrive team and just taking on their powers. Again not practical since the team wouldn't really fit with the Overdrive stock footage. |
Re: Once A Rangers Staying
Just give the OAR Team the OO Powers and it would work footage wise.

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
The idea of bringing the older Rangers back and keeping them for the whole season was not feasible. Nor was changing casts midseason. Thats not how they do things or did things in this case. The real problem with OO is that they made the characters unlikeable to the point that the older Rangers clearly overshadowed them. Despite the fact the writers tried to overshadow the Retro Rangers.

Rangers have changed colors before. So you could have done it in theory. But it wasn't happening.

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
There big mistake with OO was not keeping the characters more close to Boukenger. The returning American Sentai Rangers were not in Japanese Sentai and should not have been shoehorned in.

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
Thats true on that end. Black would have at least had to be a new character

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
I think the OO Rangers were beyond annoying and self absorbed. My screen name is a play on Rose being a know it all. But I don't see anyway that they would have been pushed aside for the oldies. Nor was Overdrive ever going to be an all star type team. Its never been done.

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
Disney doesn't operate like that. Plus Adam couldn't stay since he wasn't a Disney Ranger.

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
It was great having Tori back.

Re: Once A Rangers Staying
Their mistake was NOT extending the season to at least 38 episodes, since it was the 15th season of the franchise and it needed some special anniversary treatment outside "Once a Ranger".. OO's main problem was too many evil characters for a season that was obviously too short to take in their background stories AND ongoing storylines AND incorporate them into OO's main storyline and the PR universe. Plus 3 of the villains were connected to the 6th Ranger (can't remember the name right now). The writers and the producers didn't have any time or space for really developing the season's plot and storyline. The Ranger characters were fine, but since they did have 6 villains spread out in 4 different villain fractions in the season (Flourious, Moltor, Kamdor/Miratrix, Fearcats), even the main characters didn't have a chance to truly shine and the cast didn't get the opportunity to really get the viewers to even care about what happens with the Rangers.
Ninja Storm, Dino Thunder, SPD, Mystic Force, Jungle Fury and RPM might not be someone's preference, but they all succeeded where Operation Overdrive has failed, even in the season's theme song area. |

I think you meant the Fearcats. And I agree the story between them and Tzyonn was underdeveloped. Tyzonn himself was all over the place. I think the team up would have been better if they ditched the OO powers angst and had the teams work together. That way they could have given them equal focus. |
Re: Once A Rangers Staying
Well I think the team up was very good the way it was. And OO was an awesome season!
|
Re: Once A Rangers Staying
Disney was just too cheap to do what it took to make a good season and team up.
