Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
http://newsroom.hasbro.com/news-rele...-power-rangers
The official press release announcing Hasbro taking ovsr Power Rangsra Toyline has an interesting paragrah.. "The first set of products from Hasbro will be available in spring 2019. Both Hasbro and Saban Brands are dedicated to continue growing this iconic brand. In recognition of this investment, during a period of time after Hasbro becomes the master toy licensee, the arrangement between the parties provides Saban Brands and Hasbro with the opportunity to initiate Hasbro’s purchase of the Power Rangers property. " So it appears there is a very real possibility that Hasbro could eventually purchase Power Rangers outright. Suffice it to say, that would be an equally huge story. And would make sense in a lot of areas since the Power Rangers ip would be very valuable to Hasbro. And would align with their core business. Its also likely Power Rangers will get sold again down the line. Since Haim Saban isn't getting any younger and it stands to reason he will sell when its time to retire. Hasbro would be the perfect suitor to sell to and ensure that the brand has even more longevity. What an Hasbro owned Power Rangers would be like isn't totally clear. But they would certainly want to keep the brand going strong. But it sounds like this type of sale is still several years away. And who knows if Hasbro will actually end up buying the brand. But it's certainly an interesting story to follow. |
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Power Rangers would be very valuable to Hasbro. And already will be as a toy brand. They would no doubt see the brand fitting well with Transformers and their other ips. Any toy company would love to own a powerful toy seller like Power Rangers. Hasbro also has the resources to keep Power Rangers going. And will to keep selling the toys.

Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Wow this news just keeps getting better. I remember suggesting this here a few years ago. With Hasbro producing the toys and now the possibility of them buying PR outright someday....I just might end up being right. Hasbro would make great owners for the brand. Saban would be smart to sell to them down the line.

Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
New owners would make me nervous. But as long as the series was well taken care of, it would all be fine.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
I would hate to see Saban sell Power Rangers again. I just can't imagine the brand without him running the series. We already saw how bad things got with Disney in charge. No one can write for the series like Saban.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Don't worry, I am sure its just a precaution for both parties. Saban will control Power Rangers as long as he can. Its the most important part or his carreer. He won't want someone else producing the series. He already had to watch Disney. It must have been so hard for Saban to let other people produce his show.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
This is getting even more distressing for me. Its making it a lot harder for Disney to buy back Power Rangers. Which I have been waiting for.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Disney isn't buying back the show. Hasbro has to be considered the favorite now, if Power Rangers is ever up for sale.
I would go into any sale with cautioun. The sale to Disney made the series horrible and the sell back to Saban didn't help. So who knows if it would change anything for the better. I'd much rather give Hasbro a chance than trust Disney. |
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Power Rangers has always been a good series no matter who owns it. And I am sure Hasbro would want to not mess with a good series.

Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Hasbro buying Americwn Sentai would be horrible. Saban needs to do the right thing and sell the whole brand to Toei. This new Hasbro partnership is an insult to Japanese Sentai.

Yes, thats what I was thinking. Just didn't want to be morbid lol.But its not like Saban can't retire and sell the brand himself.

Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Maybe Power Rangers would finally be owned by a company that wasn't cheap.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
I know Saban can't stick around forever. But this scares me into thinking the end will be a lot sooner than I thought. I hope he finds a way to at least make sure Saban Brands runs Power Rangers after he retires.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
But the Saban Ownership was only really grewt during MMPR. Disney surpassed Saban as an owner. And surely would again if they buy the franchise back.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Perhaps Saban Brands should sell Ninja Storm to Hasbro now. Even if I would prefer Disney would buy and produce it.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Well they could at least get Disney to produce it for them.

Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Lets not get ahead of ourselves, the Hasbro deal is big news. And the paragraph aluding to their option to possible buy Power Rangers down the line is diffinitely interesting. But the brand hasn't been sold yet. And there is no guarantee Hasbro will actually buy.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
I would be very surprised if Saban actually sells. I think Saban Brands will just work with Hasbro as partners.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
This would change things more than Hasbro just being the new toyline partner. But I don't think the quality of the series would really change all that much. Since the target audience would be the same. And we are a long way away from the best seasons.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
This will probably happen five or ten years down the line. Unless the relationship between Hasbro and Saban doesn't go well. But it seems off to a good start.

Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
If Saban sells the show again, it should only be bought by Toei. That was they can cwncel the series and export pure Super Sentai instead.

Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Personally yes hasbro could buy the rights down the road fully. But I don't see Saban selling the right again any time soon. Also we know hasbro is or has worked with nick to on things. So it could stay with nick too. As you really want it to move to discovery kids channel for most cable and satellite providers it's a upper tier package channel. Vs nick which is on most providers basic plans. So I wouldn't see that as a possible move for show. Plus ratings would likely drop more then the 1 to 2 mill we get on nick.
As for toy line. Ya the basic lines likely be ranger figures, villain and monster figures, zords, megazords, morphers, weapons. So that 7 lines right there. Then we likely see any power up modes, vehicles like red bike, then probably some toy exclusive stuff like Bandai has done over the years like bike morph rangers, to etc... stuff. |
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
I think Hasbro is now poised to buy the series in a few years
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
If they buy the show,I hope they are open to casting fans as Rangers. I know a lot lf fans are like me and want to play Power Rangers on TV and Movies.

Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
Maybe JDF could finally get his Green Rangers Movie made?

Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
If Hasbro is smart, they will bring back VR Troopers. Its even more valuable than Power Rangers. Which is overrated in my book.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
That would be nice bit it sounds like a long shot.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
VR Troopers is a dead brand and Metal Hero isn't even a thing Japan.Every other toku has either failed her or only had short-term success
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
This is quite the deal for Hasbro. I was a litttle worried about losing Bandai at first. But it seems like the series might be in better hands now.
|
Re: Hasbro Potential Power Rangers Owner
I just hope we don't get anything like the transformers movies. Those films are horrible and aren't even true to transformers. I use the term film loosely.
