Why did Carlos become Black Ranger?
 

It just seems odd because TJ was the leader in Turbo and still a natural leader in Space. Yet Black gets a lot of scenes of being in charge while in the Megazord.

It didn't change the fact that TJ was still the leader when Andros wasn't around. It was just the sentai footage, since Megablack was more of a leader in Megaranger. Carlos going from Green to Black seemed like a seemless transition. So it made sense to do the colors the way they did it.

simply put it was to avoid the whole "Saban is racist" "Power Rangers is racist" stuff they got when Walter a black was cast as the Black Ranger and Thuy an Asian was cast as Yellow.

Thats too bad because it would have been just a coincidence. Which I am sure it actually was in season 1.

Carlos couldn't lead sheep. He was too busy worrying about why the Megatank was cool.

I didn't like how they tried to make him the next Adam. He was no Adam, thats for sure.

This bothered me a bit as a TJ guy at the time. It was hard enough seeing him not be Red anymore, in the beginning. But I think its pretty clear TJ was at least second in command. In a lot lf ways he still acted like a leader.

Its all because Andros owned the ship and knew more about Space. If Andros joined the Turbo's on Earth, TJ would have still been Red. Carlos definitely was not second in command.

Carlos did seem to lead more in the Megazord,when Andros wasn't around.

MMPR was just a coincidence but after being told about it they made sure to never do it again.

yea he was still the 2nd in command.

that's true but that was because of Sentai footage since they didn't recreate the zord cockpits in order to shoot original footage of them.

This was always an odd discrepancy for Space. They probably should have wrote the characters closer to Megaranger.

I liked Carlos as Black Ranger and TJ as Blue.

Tommy probably promoted TJ back to Red after he learned his lesson about destroying megazords.

I don't think anyone was the leader in PRIS. It was Andrls' ship and morphers, so he had the final say.
