One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

Tommy as a Palentologist? It just seems so out of character and out of left field. Last we saw him he was trying to become a rac car driver. Which kinda didn't fit either and if he is such a big palentologist.... What is he doing teaching at a High School?

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

Billy leaving for Aquitar didn't fit either... so we really can't say anything about Tommy's career choice in Dino Thunder.

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

I still say it was all a cover for a Hexagon operation. Tommy didn't have a real doctorate and was just waiting for the right students to get chosen by the Dino Gems.

I always though Tommy would start his own martial arts school. Like JDF actually did.

I lke to think that Troy was mentored by Tommy. He taught him martial arts as a kid but Troy didn't know he was a Ranger until the SM Finalie.

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

Well maybe Tommy changed his mind sometime after he left. The storyline was made up to impress fans who stopped watching the show during the Turbo season.

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

That's pretty realistic. Plenty of people change their minds when they get older plus we never saw Tommy have much of a career path outside of race car driving. Tommy's time as a Ranger probably inspired him to become a palentology major.

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

Tommy doesn't strike me as the type to study Palenthology or earn a doctorate.

Doctor Dana 05/31/15 02:49 PM

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

He was mainly studying morphology. Palentology was just a related field partly due to the Power Coins and Dino Gems plus he had to know about the Energems.

Yeah it was kinda weird and seemed a little much. I would have rather have seen Edward Payne be in the role. Tommy could have been a guest star if they wanted him back so bad. I don't think it was needed since DinoThunder was at its best in the episodes that didn't focus on Dr. Oliver.

I am with you Green. I would like to follow Abaranger more closely. I would rather the show follow Abaranger more closely. I never understood Power Rangers fans obssession with the return of old characters. In Sentai we rarely get that nor do we need that.

We get it already you don't like Tommy but I completely disagree with you in that Dino Thunder was at its best in the episodes that didn't focus on him.

We get it already you're in love with Sentai and I don't want a Power Rangers writer pretty much copying the content word-for-word since that's nothing more than being lazy... maybe you're fine with that but I'm not and I'm sure there's others out there that don't want lazy writers either.

Yes in Sentai we don't usually get the return of old characters (except for crossovers which is what Power Rangers does as well with its various teamups) but that's because they're not as strict on continuity they typically view a season as a separate universe with no ties to another season until they want them to be connected but that's Sentai and not Power Rangers. Power Rangers was born with a continuity.

Since you're so in love with Sentai then why don't you spend your time watching those episodes instead of Power Rangers? You clearly love watching the same thing twice which is apparently what you want Power Rangers to do and you're in the minority here.

Psh, Tommy having a PhD was all a cover. lol

I just like seeing the sentai footage in North America. I would rather have Super Sentai just imported directly like Ultraman Tiga. But that's probably not happening anytime soon.

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

I like Tommy but having him have a PHD is a bit much. They really didn't know how to write for him in DT. Might as well have had him play a new character. He didn't feel like the real Tommy. As much as I hated Super Megaforce. Tommy felt more real there than in DT.

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

I agree with Matt. Sentai fans should just watch Sentai if they can't enjoy PR for what it is. The sentai approach is one of the reason I haven't been able to enjoy the show for a very long time.

well you're getting that with the Zyuranger DVD set... the better the sales the more likely more will come out.

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

DinoThunder came out years after Turbo that's plenty of time for a smart guy like Tommy to spend years in college besides it's a lot more believable than Dana Mitchell becoming a Doctor only a year after LR.

That does seem to be the case

No she wasn't she was a paramedic during Lightspeed Rescue which isn't the same thing.

Its hard to keep everything straight with pr's long history. Matt is pretty good at it. He always corrects my mistakes lol.

MattEmily 06/07/15 01:24 PM

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

ain't that the truth and "always correcting your mistakes" would be the understatement of the century PRangerX LOL... but in the case of paramedics it is a confusing title since while they're not the same thing as Doctors are they're almost the same thing as what Nurses are so you do tend to kind of wonder what exactly differs between the 2 of them.

Being a Doctor involves years of education. You go through college, grad school, and medica school. Permadics and Nurses go to much quicker schooling. They are all in the medical field but being a Doctor is far more involved then being a nurse or peramedic. Obviously both are still very important jobs. Its just a big leap to be a nurse or peramedic ...Only to become a doctor in one year.

and paramedics are typically only there with ambulances.

You have a point maybe they made Dana a doctor was maybe she wanted to help Mariner Bay in different way and not as the Pink Lightspeed Ranger now that the demons were gone forever.

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

Its the PRU. Things are different sometimes. We have had humans breathing in space and robot sons becoming human. So a peramedic becoming a doctor in one year is not that crazy.

PRangerX 06/08/15 12:23 PM

Re: One thing that bothers me in DinoThunder

I can see why Dana wanted to become a doctor but it was just insanely quick by real world standards..The its a PRU excuse is probably the best one.

exactly look at all of the things that we have seen in-show that weren't based in reality and that is besides all of the monsters and Ranger stuff that we see. We have proof that people can breathe in space but only to a certain degree. We've had villains riding horses on the Moon. We've had villains riding in a vehicle on the Moon.
People don't ever notice the Command Center/Power Chamber out in the mountains even though it's a big building and thousands of people have went by the area.
