Power Rangers Samurai Episode 4 Discussion "Sticks and Stones"

I didn't like the episode as much in the beginning. But as it went on I liked it better. It was nice to get some Emily focus. Its interesting to learn that her sister was a Samurai Ranger or at least training to be one. Makes sense since the powers seem to be passed through the generations. They didn't say it but I think its supposed to be implied that the older sister passed away.

It was nice to see Bulk and Spike more organically involved. They didn't seem as isolated. It was refreshing not to get the gag where Bulk gets slimed and Spike laughs. Since that has been overdone at times. Especially last episode when it wasn't even that funny.

Its going to be interesting to learn what Jayden's secret is. Mike was probably at his best this episode. I say that about the character and the actor. He interacted with Emily well here. I think the plot of the day was something that kids could relate too. Since bullying is a huge issue right now.

Does anyone get the impression that they are writing for a lower demo then usual this year? A lot of the plots the Rangers have been in this year has them reacting to things like five year olds. Just something I have noticed.

I do think the actress behind Emily overacted. She didn't come off as believeable at times. The villains continue to be too generic. Not having an american villain is really hurting this year. The master continues to be pretty useless. I mean he has no personality and really demonstrates no real acting ability. He's probably the worst mentor that we have had.

Emily's behavior was a little out of left field. Since we didn't know about these self esteem problems before. But I guess she has always seemed a little Zany. The whole idea of the monster hurting people with insults was underdeveloped here. It didn't make much sense. It would have been better if he took away people's self esteem.

I don't know I want to wait a bit before I can make an opinion on the master, and the villains since it seems like they're going over everyone episode by episode.

I never thought about them aiming for a lower demo that kind of does make sense.

The episode was all right nothing too spectacular but not too bad either.

I still want to wait for the major episodes before I can make too much of a judgment on the series.

If you watched Shinkenger you would have known that the Yellow Ranger is not the one originally intended story wise she's just a fill in.

Also it is clear as day what Jayden's secret is. If you haven't watched Shinkenger and want to know the secret PM me.

I knew they said this was going to be a translation but they didn't have to translate every fucking little detail.

I can make a judgement now. The story = Shinkenger but worse.

I don't follow Sentai closely. So I don't know every single plot.

Someone at RB made a good point about the Rangers acting like children. Its has to do with them trying to copy the Sentai. Since copying what the Japan Actors do doesn't always translate right. The same thing happened in WF. I thought that was a good point. Since the Wild Force Rangers often acted like children.

Since I have started following Sentai every season of Sentai has been superior, especially when it is a translation with not a single syllable of adaptation. With one exception, early RPM was superior to the Sentai version.

As for my earlier offer of PMing if you want to know Jayden's secret, just go to Wikipedia and look up Shinkenger.

I actually think the quality started to drop before the change over. But overall I think it was still a good season. Just didn't live up to the first ten episodes in some ways.

'Sticks And Stones' is a good episode. We meet a monster who used insults to harm people. He even manage to harm Bulk and Spike. He began to doubt himself for a while when he couldn't affect the Yellow Ranger. It was reveal that she wasn't the first Yellow Samurai Ranger. Bulk and Spike try to get back at the monster, but the Samurai Ranger beat them to it. ;)
