Did the rest of the universe know Zordon was alive before Rita was awakened?
 

It would seem odd that no one came to invade earth before Rita woke up. And after her everyone else showed up or was awakened.

People just weren't that interested in Earth until Rita came a long. Plus the whole war in Space ended up happening. So Earth got popular real fast with the bad guys.

I think Zordon was either thought to be dead or MIA. The forces of Good and Evil were in a cold war for a long time. Being out of the picture let Zordon plan for the inevitable final war. Which came to fruition in Space. The whole timeline was sped up when Rita escaped and Zordon was once again back on the radar. Once things got bad and Zordon had a way out of his time warp , he had to high tail it home before shit hit the fan. Of course, Specter ruined things by invading Eltar and capturing him.

How do we know Earth wasn't attacked before? Given all the later Ranger teams that were only shown to be related in FR, its possible there were many other Ranger teams before the MMPR team. The fact we see formally unseen teams in "Legendary Battle" only makes that more likely.

Only Rita and Zedd cared about Earth in the beginning. The Machines just wanted it to complete their collection and Divatox was mad the Rangers foiled her plans. Astronema was ordered to stop the Space Rangers and followed them their. Scorpious has nothing to do with Earth.

The demons were just set free as were most of the bad guys afterwards who weren't Earth based anyway. Lothar came back because he had a vendetta against his bother and wanted access to the Abyss of Evil. The bag guys in Megaforce just wanted to conquer. But all these post Space guys weren't connected to the alliance anyway.

I would have to be on the side of Zordon's survival being secret. Earth seemed to be mostly left alone before Rita came back. At least by the UAE anyway.

You're exactly right. Zordon played everything perfectly but couldn't account for Rita's return. It sped up the conflict that we saw in C2D. And thats why Zordon had to make sure he made it back to Eltar when Turbo began.

I see no reason why anyone thought Zordon was dead. The bad guys just had other fish to fry before MMPR.

I think they knew he was alive. There was just no reason for anyone important to come to Earth until the MMPR era happened. Zordon was stuck on Earth until Turbo, so couldn't do too much actively.

I think Zordon must have been in communication with K0-35. Andros knew who he was and referred to him as an old friend.
