Well, "Mega" means big. "Zord" means... well, Zord. So a Megazord is actually a "big zord", or in this case, a "bigger zord" or "different zord". So, when 5 zords combine and become a bigger robot, it becomes a "Megazord", not 'cause they combine, but 'cause it's bigger and different. The same thing goes for the Astro Megaship, it's a ship that becomes a bigger zord, or in this case, just a zord, since the Astro Megaship isn't techinicaly a zord. So, it's a Megazord, just like the Tiger Zord, the Mega Winger, the Delta Megazord, etc.

It's that, or: In the Power Rangers' world, every big thing that transforms into another big thing is a Megazord by default.
