I think Zeo needed fresh villains. Zedd and Rita were around too long. We already knew the Rangers could beat them.

I wish the Machines could have stayed as long. Gasket should have been the main villain of Turbo.

I have no problem with Zedd being funy. He was just the right max of menace and comedy. He is the best villain the show has ever had.

I think the love potion made Zedd more soft. His personality changed dramatically once Rita came on board. He was mainly serious before that.

It was a shame they watered him down. His performance in "Mutiny" was amazing. And if he kept that tone it would have made him the best villain ever. People overrate Zedd because of this.

I think the love potion did change his personality a lot. He was still Zedd but he became more lighthearted.

I don't.think they liked the idea of him being to scary. A lot of villai back then were more comical.

Zedd was still more threatening then. By Zeo he was just in a rut with having being beat by Tommy and later displaced by the Machines. Only to be removed from power for some unknown reason before Turbo.

Of course the great and Powerful White Ranger had to defeat him one and one. There was no salavaging him after this. Tommy already killed Goldar's credibility but at least he was never the big bad.

He was actually still pretty bad ass when he wanted to be. Kind of like Lothor in Ninja Storm. They are similar type of villains. Of course Zedd is first and has a more scary costume.
